In the months following the earthquake, as aftershocks continued and reconstruction was slow to begin, the Carnevali family never gave up.

Putting aside any hope of returning quickly to their original building, Bruno, Vanessa, and their team rolled up their sleeves to establish a more stable solution for their business.

In early 2017, overcoming significant bureaucratic hurdles and investing personally, the Carnevalis managed to install a prefabricated structure in the parking lot of the old motel, moving the bar and restaurant kitchen into it.

This modest but functional modular building allowed them to continue offering restaurant and hospitality services, albeit on a reduced scale, preserving their loyal clientele and maintaining a presence in the area. Essentially, the prefab took over the role of the motel as a roadside stop: as one journalist aptly noted, the “role” of the historic motel founded by Mattei was successfully carried on by this prefabricated structure, erected by the Carnevali family in the spacious lot in front.
