On June 25, 2021, within the framework of the European project Made In Land, funded by the Interreg Italy–Croatia 2014–2020 Programme, the Marche Region, in collaboration with the Municipality of Muccia and the project partner University of Camerino, inaugurated the new digital tourist information centre OSIC (One Stop Information Centre).
This pilot initiative was launched with the aim of improving both physical and virtual accessibility to the natural and cultural heritage of inland areas, enhancing them as valuable resources for sustainable local development.
The activation of the tourist information centre within the “Mulino da Varano” in Muccia allows visitors—through innovative digital and technological tools—to access information about the goods, services, and products offered by the inland territories of the Upper Macerata area. The project specifically focuses on promoting the Upper Chienti Valley as a pilot area.
Through the OSIC in Muccia, tourists can plan travel experiences across the inland landscapes along a network of routes for mountain biking, e-biking, horseback riding, canoeing, and hiking throughout the Upper Chienti Valley. Moreover, it is possible to take educational visits on site at the mill itself and to receive guidance towards other thematic points of interest in the surrounding territory.

The Marche Region is the lead partner of an INTERREG Italy–Croatia project called Made in-Land ("MAnagement and DEvelopment of INLANDs"), funded under the European Italy–Croatia I4-20 program with contributions from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the National Rotation Fund.
Thanks to the resources made available by this European project, a specific memorandum of understanding was signed between the Marche Region and the Municipality of Muccia for the creation of an Information Center at the ancient Varano Mill, owned by the Municipality.
This Center represents a project initiative introduced by the Marche Region to promote measures for the protection and enhancement of the underutilized natural and cultural capital of inland areas. The goal is to improve accessibility and tourism while restoring a central role to communities and local authorities in managing these processes.
Globe Inside S.r.l., the company contracted to develop the Information Center, has brought to the project its expertise in destination management and inbound tourism in the Marche Region. In addition to cutting-edge technical solutions and innovative IT tools, the company has implemented its model of a “relational tourist office”. This model expands the typical visitor services to include coordination and support for local tourism operators and stakeholders, fostering digitalization and collaboration—starting from the promotion and sale of combined tourism products connected to the local area and intermodal transport hubs.
Through this approach, the local community becomes actively involved in every stage of the tourist experience, and the Information Center becomes a place where both the techniques and strategies are developed to truly become a "welcoming community."
