Experience this 7.2 km loop trail near Muccia, in the Marche region. The trail is generally considered challenging and takes an average of 3 hours and 10 minutes to complete. It is suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and running, and it is unlikely to encounter many other people along the route.

Trail Description:

  • Start/Finish: Massaprofoglio (parking available in the square in front of Fonte di Massa).

  • Route: From Massaprofoglio, follow the trail clockwise to reach Monte di Massa (1305 m). Continue along the dirt road to the Torraccia and the Castello di Prefoglio. Unfortunately, both were destroyed by the last earthquake and cannot be entered.

This is a beautiful circular route that allows you to enjoy the natural landscape, historical sites, and panoramic views of the area.

A short but thrilling experience, featuring exhilarating climbs and rewarding descents, immersing you in landscapes of rare beauty and offering expansive panoramic views. The itinerary begins in Serravalle del Chienti, ascending along a picturesque forest road that leads to the Macchialunga meadows at the foot of Mount Prefoglio. A small detour allows you to reach the summit of Mount Faento, from which the view over the Colfiorito plateau is simply magnificent. The route continues along a trail that cuts across Mount Costaruzza, and after a steep climb, reaches the Massa meadows, where the unmistakable profile of Mount Massa can be admired. The adventure proceeds with a challenging descent, which in some short sections is exposed, descending into the wild nature of the Valle Vecchia. From there, an easy walk along the valley floor brings you back to the starting point.
